Chapters
The IEEE is divided into ten geographic Regions worldwide. Within those Regions are more than 340 local Sections and more than 2,700 technical Chapters and 3,600 student branch chapters that unite local members with similar technical interests. Some of the Sections are also grouped together in regional Councils. Members of the IEEE automatically become members of their local IEEE Section, allowing them to share technical, professional and personal interests with others in IEEE’s worldwide member community. The NPSS Chapter Policy document provides details on creation and support of Chapters.

You can check for chapters of other societies in your section by looking at the list of IEEE Geographic Activities. If you do not find a chapter conveniently close, consider forming one.
