2025 IEEE NSREC Is Planning for Nashville, Tennessee

The conference will be held at the Nashville Renaissance in downtown Nashville adjacent to the famous 5th and Broadway, 14th - 18th July 2025.

Pulsed Power Science and Technology Committee is Coming to Berlin

The 2025 IEEE International Pulsed Power and Plasma Science Conference is quickly approaching!
 

The combined 25th IEEE Pulsed Power Conference (PPC) and the 52nd IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS) will be held 15th - 20th June 2025 in Berlin, Germany at the Estrel Berlin.  

2024 IEEE NSS/MIC/RTSD Conference Report 

Report from the Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging Conference (NSS/MIC), and Room-Temperature Semiconductor Detectors Conference (RTSD)
 

Despite the challenges, the conference attracted around 1,400 registered participants, 56 exhibitors, and seven sponsors (NIH, Brightonix Imaging, JCNS, Luxium Solutions, RMD/Hilger, NPSS, and NK&K). The event featured a rich program, including seven short courses, six workshops, and seven special events.

This year (2025) has brought with it some significant changes in NPSS AdCom, not the least of which was our long-standing Secretary, Albe Larsen, stepping down from her position on the committee at the end of 2024. 

Lorenzo Fabris, Distinguished R&D Staff

Lorenzo is Distinguished R&D Staff in the Physics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He received his master’s degree in microelectronics and electronic instrumentation from the University of Pavia, Italy in 1993 and his PhD from the University of Bergamo, Italy, in 2016.

The PPST committee elections are coming up and we are looking to fill four positions on the committee and one position for our AdCom representative! The committee aids in promoting cooperation and exchange of technical information in the pulsed power community through publications and conferences

The IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Particle Accelerator Science and Technology (PAST) Technical Committee grants the PAST Award to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of particle accelerator science and technology. 

NPSS Nominations

Looking forward to 2026 Nominations

The Society offers awards for recognition of meritorious contributions and grants-in-aid to support conference travel and project costs. Nominations for the Merit, Shea, Early Achievement, Graduate Scholarship, Birdsall, Barker, Women in Engineering, Kristiansen, Hoffman, Jaszczak, and Knoll Awards should be submitted through the NPSS website.

A one-day event in hybrid mode at the NSS-MIC RTSD 2024 in Tampa, 27 October, 2024

While there are undoubtedly natural forces at work that contribute to the changing climate on a timescale of tens of thousands of years moving from glacial eras to higher temperature periods and vice versa, there is no doubt now that we humans are accelerating these “warming processes” by releasing excessive amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
