New Journal – IEEE Transactions on Radiation and Plasma Medical Sciences

NPSS is launching a new IEEE journal, the Transactions on Radiation and Plasma Medical Sciences (TRPMS), with the first issue to be published in January 2017. TRPMS will be published in cooperation with the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS).

This has been a long awaited development for the field of nuclear and plasma medical sciences. The aim of this journal is to create a unique publication related to the application of radiation and plasma sciences within the medical field.

Topics covered by TRPMS include

• radiation detectors for medical and biological applications
• imaging system design/optimization/performance
• therapy-related system design/optimization/ performance
• PET/SPECT/CT image reconstruction, data analysis and image processing
• plasma applications in medicine and biology
• medical radiation therapy applications
• clinical/preclinical evaluation of imaging and therapy systems
• simulations for imaging and therapy applications

In addition to original manuscripts, technical/clinical review papers covering the above subjects of interest may be submitted. Proposals for special issues associated with a specific topic of interest or a specific conference will be also considered.

Both of the current NPSS publications, the IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science (TNS) and the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science (TPS), currently publish papers with medical sciences content. These two journals are general in scope and have very broad coverage; thus the intent is for that content to transition to the new journal TRPMS. We believe that the new journal will prove to be a much better venue for this work. The objective is to provide a high visibility, specialized, and hence rapidly indexed in PubMed, venue for all medically related papers covered by the different research fields of interest of NPSS, its technical committees and flagship conferences.

Authors will find the review process to be fast and efficient, and that publication of their work in this journal will be to their advantage over other possible publication venues. We therefore strongly encourage authors to submit their work to TRPMS at  https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/trpms.
